Distinguishing a detox reaction from allergies and food intolerances

For a long time I've wondered how to distinguish a detox reaction from allergies

and food intolerances, and the recent thread brought this up again.

Lots of books talk about detox reactions a lot, but are of very little help with

learning to distinguish between detox reactions and other health issues.

Is there a good source of information on learning to distinguish between detox

reactions and other health issues?

I've been about 99% raw for about 20 months now. As my health gradually gets

better, I keep experimenting to see if I can broaden my diet.

I'm starting to suspect that some of the foods I thought were " bad " for me were

actually nutrients I was short on, and after I ate some of them, it empowered my

body enough to start a detox reaction so strong I was too sick to do anything,

so I stopped eating them because they were " bad " for me.

I know I'm really allergic to things like nightshades and cow and chicken

protein, can't digest grains, and suspect I'm allergic to avocados and cherries.

None of these are generally considered to be critical nutrients or considered to

be cleansing.

Recently, sometimes eating olives made me feel better rather than worse. A few

times I ate a LOT of olives without any problems. This particularly got me

wondering if I was so unhealthy before that just 3 olives would make me so sick

with a detox reaction that I had confused this with a food intolerance reaction.

I know that which foods you can't tolerate, or react to, changes over time, and

so this complicates identifying the difference between this and a detox

reaction.

I have been very sick for years, and have had a very limited diet due to

digestion problems and food intolerances and allergies.

Now I'm concerned that I've also been avoiding some of the foods I needed the

most because the detox experience after eating them made me so sick.

Another food I've been really wondering about is algae. I quit trying to eat

that because it made me so " sick " . Now I'm wondering if that was also a detox

reaction. This gets back to learning how to read my reactions to food better.

May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter,

Roger
