Guest guest
At a meeting of raw foodists in Bellevue a couple of weeks ago, we were talking about some issues regarding our food choices and effects on the environment, and also the farming of animals. I'm a member of PCC (Puget Sound Consumer Coop) and receive their monthly newsletter which always has informative articles on subjects such as GMOs, plastics in foods, and other issues of that kind. Their articles are also on line: http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/sc/index.html Some of you might be interested in their Farmland Trust program, by which they purchase farmland - especially where the farmer is in danger of losing it for one reason or another (in those cases they will lease it back to the same farmer, with the stipulation that it remain or become " organic " ). http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/farmtrust/index.html Off-Topic: Regarding the farming of animals, this one is a little bit off-topic - it is about the eating of cats and dogs. For those of you who are not aware of this, you might want to look at the sites below. It is one of the most horrific practices of intentional cruelty and indifference to animal suffering that I have become aware of: This one is on dogs: http://www.animalsasia.org/index.php?module=3 & menupos=3 & lg=en They have a link on the page above to some info on cats, but I found a video on these markets at the site below. It is very sad and disturbing (select your player first): http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/video.asp?video=jcruel_china_dog_UK Blanc
