Guest guest
Hi Mark, Civilization is an advanced state of human society in which a high level of culture and science has been reached. A fantasy is only a fantasy. It's not real. It's only imagination unrestrained, a daydream. Perfect means having all the desired qualities, having no flaws, correct in every detail. Is the world perfect with our advanced state of culture and science on it? Is the destruction our scientific culture has brought to the world perfect? All that my words state is that I think a perfect world is without an advanced human scientific society that does such environmental/self destruction, that's all; and that since I'm part of the society and dependent on it for my life, I'm going along with it. This is not saying that the human being is not perfect. I love humans, but I don't like how so many of them are living in destructive, advanced societies. I would also not like it if any other species were living in advanced, scientific societies, since I know what advanced scientific societies do to the life and environment around them. Imagine what an advanced scientific elephant or lion society would do to humans and other non-elephant and lion life-forms/surroundings. They'd probably be a bit nicer acting than humans are as a group right now. I don't want to find out. There are human cultures alive today that do not have advanced scientific society structure. There are wild tribes living that act like all other wild species, harmonious with themselves and their surroundings, in non-overpopulating self-sustaining, pleasant acting, stable, small groups. There is no self loathing in all of the above. One may interpret a loathing of advanced scientific/cultural living, but I have not said I loathe it. I don't. I only said I think a perfect world is without an advanced scientific cultural society. What is so loathing about that? I also think that a perfect day is with sun all day, fresh air, nice views, warmth, hiking, etc. My fantasy is that all days were like this. But since I don't control the weather, I go along with whatever the weather is. Does this mean I loathe anything other than than nice days? Landslides, volcanoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc, are all a natural part of nature. They are just a short lived, stability seeking part of nature. We call these natural disasters, but that only means a non-human caused calamitous event. A population explosion, with all the tumult it brings, is a biological calamitous event. Clearly, civilization is a calamitous biological event, its most distinguishing feature being overpopulation. This is reality. Is it not fun to think of reality? Thinking of reality does not mean I loathe reality or non-reality. I accept reality quite easy, just as I accept what fantasies are - non-reality. Belief is somewhere halfway between reality and fantasy, which is a reason I don't follow beliefs. I enjoy living in (following) reality as much as I can, and I know it is unwise to live in (follow) a fantasy, so I don't try to live in (follow) a fantasy. I do enjoy observing the natural world, including human civilization. Civilization is truly a natural disaster, like an avalanche. Biology is part of nature, the living part. All parts of nature have disasters within them. Over-population is a biological disaster. I am only reflecting on what is truly going on. I feel the same feelings, when I look at civilization, as I do when I look at any other disaster in nature. I say to myself,.....Wow. Amazed at the size and extent of the disaster I see, even as I'm enjoying/not enjoying parts of it, Robert
