Guest guest
I had lunch at Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley this April. It was SUBLIME! The space itself was wonderful, with seating outside and skylights inside flooding the area with sunlight. The staff was welcoming and gracious. I ordered a glass of wine which took a little long to get to my table (they were really busy), our server refused to charge us for the wine and brought another free glass for my friend. I tried just about everything I possibly could (for a 100% raw vegan I am awfully self-indulgent ;-) A guilt-less glutton!) The samosa appetizers were wonderful. I had the " enchilada " , which I enjoyed. My friend ordered the " I am Abundant " : a sampler of several of their entrees. I think that was the best call because it was SOOOO difficult to settle on just one item. Luckily, the serving was indeed abundant because I was able to sample too. Dessert was also very impressive. I had some layered carob cake thing and my friend had a huge cinnamon roll. They have a refrigerated case with packaged raw meals and desserts for grabbing-and-going. All-in-all, it was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend it! ______________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Then, only $9.95/month! Unlimited Internet Access with 1GB of Email Storage. Guest guest
Ooooo, reading this makes my mouth water and leaves my tastebuds longing to return. I stopped by on my way to San Diego back in September when I moved down here. OMG!! It is TRULY the best raw food I have EVER HAD!! Seriously, I absolutely gorged myself. We pulled in for dinner and stayed the night in San Fran so we could eat dinner and breakfast there. The food was beyond fabulous and people were spilling out the doors. When it came time for breakfast the next morning, I could barely fit it in because I had eaten so much the night before. I probably could have lasted until dinner the following night! I don't remember exactly what we had....except for a few things....Bruschetta - so good...the live bread was very close to the real thing and it was just bursting with flavor. My son ordered the Nachos. The 'Bean Dip " they used in the middle tasted exactly like the real thing. I was the first to taste it, and I exclaimed very loudly that it was exactly like the real thing. My son who was 11 at the time and still eating SAD said " no way, you say that about everything, mom " . But then he tasted it, and he reluctantly had to agree. I live in San Diego now, and if I had the money I would be up there to eat at least once a month. I don't think anything else about the city would attract me....just GRATITUDE.
