Guest guest
Greetings! I periodically remind our list of email etiquette. It has been quite a while and we have had lots of new members join, so here are some things to keep in mind when posting (even the " old timers " should pay attention): When replying to emails on the list, please edit the previous email's text - down to those specific items you are referring to. You may not even need previous text included. Often, the subject line alone is enough! Many people on this list are on the " Digest " form of email, so in one email there may be the same text over and over again from repeated replies, if left unedited. This requires the reader to scroll through pages of repeated (and unnecessary) text. Some programs may not display the previous text you are attaching to your email. Please view your own message once it is posted on the list to see if you need to change the way you reply to email. We have had some extremely long, unneccesary replies. An example is a one sentence reply along with the entire 1 or 2 previous emails. I will try to send individual reminders as they occur, to help curb this ongoing issue. Please be sure the subject line correctly reflects the actual subject of the post. Some email subjects may change after a series of replies. Changing the subject line will better inform people of the content in case they wish to read/not-read the email. An accurate subject line helps everyone. So when replying to an email, double check your subject line for accuracy, especially when replying to the Daily Digest. Please respect others on the list and keep posts on-topic. We discourage off-topic posts, but if you feel strongly compelled to post an email that is not about vegan raw foods, but feel it may somehow be of interest to most of the list, at least type " OT " (Off Topic) at the beginning of the subject line. Again, this will better inform people of the content in case they wish to not read the email. It shows respect to others on the list. Some are looking only for emails with specific subjects. Some just do not have the time for off-topic posts. Also, keep the post brief, linking to external information, rather than posting lengthy off-topic posts to this list. Like any list or group of people, we have a diverse/eclectic group and have a variety of backgrounds and opinions. Please share your feelings and opinions while honoring and respecting those of others. Please do not attack the character of others when they believe differently. Please also keep language appropriate for a family list, so we may continue appealing to a broader audience. Please, no condescending or name-calling. Our members should feel welcome to post here. We, of course, do not allow spam. On occasion people have signed up for the list for the purpose of spamming, so some spam has gotten through. Your moderators quickly and swiftly (if we are paying attention) remove such " members " and have enacted policies to minimize these occurrences. Emails to this list should be individually sent to the list and not just included in a " Cc " or " Bcc " list of recipients. We will do our best to keep the list an enjoyable environment to share questions and ideas about raw foods. We appreciate your doing your best, as well! Thanks for your help and your participation! Guest guest
Jeff, et al, Thanks for the reminder and the always cordial exchange on this list. If anything I think some members may hold back comments that they would like to share. I'd like to remind everyone that there's a companion list called SeattleDailyWisdom for discussion of ideas, dreams and commentary that don't directly relate to food/diet but support and inspire higher consciousness that comes from taking better care of your mind/body. I hope anyone who's interested will check out past comments and add some new ones. It's been pretty quiet for a long time. Thanks again, Nick - Jeff Rogers Raw Seattle Sunday, June 25, 2006 6:11 AM [RawSeattle] * Posting Etiquette Greetings! I periodically remind our list of email etiquette.
