Guest guest
Dear Seattlelites, I made a minor change to the website. It will look and act the same, so I'm sorry if you were hoping for new " features " . However, all the event listings no longer require server-side processing. The month menu is still server-side and therefore slower, but once you click on an event it should load noticeably faster. The first time you view a new event, it'll forget your starting address. Once you request a map or driving directions your starting address will be saved and re-used like it has in the past. I'll be improving the speed of the driving directions by providing client-side processing of that behavior too (this will only cut about 2 seconds off the load time, so don't expect a night and day difference). After that you can expect the member directory to once again return to the public sector. It will however, be protected from data-mining robots by using multiple captchas (those scrambled pictures that require a human to decipher the text). There will basically be 4 clocks on the page and you'll have to type in the hour that each of the hands indicates. So each clock will have 12 different possibilities. The member directory will also be much faster as it will be using a newer and better version of Active Server Pages (compiled vs. interpreted code for the techies among you). I may also provide an anonymous setting whereby it will only have your first and last name and picture. If someone wants your info, they'll have to request it from you.
