Endangered Species Act about to compromised yet again

Hi Gang,

I didn't write any of what is to follow it's from the Care2 network's

mailing list:

First, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is under attack. Right now,

the Senate is working to rewrite the entire Act. The House already

approved Representative Pombo's dangerous " Wildlife Extinction " bill,

which would gut the ESA by replacing mandatory critical habitat

protections with voluntary measures, exempting all pesticide decisions

from ESA compliance, and creating vast loopholes for developers.

If the Senate bill comes even close to the House bill and is sent to

President Bush to be signed into law, our endangered species are

doomed. Extinction is forever - let's make sure Congress hears us now!

Secondly, oil drilling in the Arctic Refuge is back. As soon as today,

Congress may vote to allow oil drilling in Alaska's Arctic National

Wildlife Refuge, and then along our currently protected coastlines.

So what can we do? In the past, when Americans were threatened with

legislation this bad, they would march on Washington D.C. to voice

their disapproval. These days, we can take to the virtual streets:

tens of thousands of people have already joined our online protest to
