Guest guest
There is a booklet available on the internet called: Forbidden Fruit - Illegal Pesticides in the U.S. Food Supply See http://www.ewg.org/reports/fruit/contents.html for the Table of Contents. Among the findings: The FDA was inconsistant in reporting violations. The most commonly contaminated foods were (listed from highest to lowest in contimination) green peas, pears, apple juice, blackberries, green onions, hot peppers, green beans, strawberries, and carrots. The most free from contamination was avocado, tangerines, potatoes, cauliflower, and grapefruit. (This is in general for all countries the U.S. gets its food supply from.) " Fifteen different crops from eleven different countries comprise the 20 worst commodity/country combinations. Seven of the 20 crops with the highest percentage of illegal pesticides came from Mexico, three from the United States, and two each from Argentina, Columbia, and Guatemala (Figure 7). " In conclusion, I'd have to say there is no evidence that Mexico's produce has lower levels of pesticides than other places. Ron
