Guest guest
Hey gang, Isn't Taurine some kind of Testosterone taken from a bull? How can it be synthesized? Why in the world would you want to give it to your cat? I've never understood why anyone would drink Taurine. ~ Alek On Nov 19, 2005, at 1:20 AM, RawSeattle wrote: > Taurine used in the vegecat suppliment is synthesized, and what the > pet food companies use. Guest guest
> Why in the world would you want to give it to your cat? It's a nutritional requirement for cats and not found in plants. It's an amino acid. http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/taurine.php This source indicates that it's synthesized from various compounds that have nothing to do with cattle. Guest guest
No, Taurine is an amino acid (protein) that cats are unable to synthesize from other other amino acids as humans and dogs are able to do. That's why cats need taurine in their diets, which is not available in sufficient quantities in a vegan diet. From what I have read, about the only raw vegan source of Taurine would be pumpkin seed.
