Guest guest
When you sprout anything keep it out of the sun. Sprouting in the wild takes place underground in the dark. Garbanzo sprouting has always been relatively easy for me. Soak overnight, rinse, set in the cupboard in the dark, rinse everytime I'm in the kitchen (well, just rinse a bunch of times per day). Mine usually have little tails by the second or third day. They seem to sprout much quicker during these hot days. Shari
Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles with your sprouts. I haven't sprouted chick peas yet. However the below applies to everything I have sprouted. In hot weather I have to change the water much more often to keep it from fermenting and then rinse them much more often to keep them from mildewing. The older seeds get, the less likely they are to sprout. They also age faster in storage that is warm or humid than cool dry storage. If only a few sprout, this might me an issue. If none of them sprout, it is more likely the technique that is the problem. As soon as I notice the slightest bit of foam, bubbles, or smell from fermentation, or black spots of mildew, they go in the compost, and I am more diligent with fresh water with the next batch.
