I think I'll try a combination of all the great suggestions I've received:

I'll have my husband check out the motor and sharpen the blades + I'll throw in

ice or frozen fruit so I can blend longer without it turning into hot soup.

I'd just resell it, but I'm not sure if my conscience would allow me.

Why do we treat our cars and clothes better than our precious bodies?

I think if I can just sharpen an edge to those blades in the old

vita - mix, it will be an excellent blender. That motor is really

powerful! I have a friend that loves to sharpen stuff and has some

great tools. If it turns out, I'll let you know. This might just

be a really cheap alternative to buying the new vita-mix K-Tech's.

Those models are so pricey!
