Guest guest
Sorry, I'm sending this email again because I seemed to have sent it with a wrong title. Welcome, Toni. Summer time it's paradise here. My most favorite activity is berry-picking besides hiking. In July we get raspberries, Marionberries and blueberries. Blueberries are ready a little later than raspberries. Conventional cherries have already appeared in our U-district farmers' market. Organic ones don't seem to show up until about second week of July but we get the best organic cherries in the country, Bing cherries and Rainier first and then Lambert will come later. You must visit our farmers' markets. I like not only the fresh produce but also the friendly faces and the festive atmosphere. I may be prejudiced but I think our U-district farmers' market is the best. It opens Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. I wouldn't miss farmers' market for almost any thing. After shopping you can go to Chaco Canyon cafe which is right across the street. There are about 100 hiking trails around here. Everyone who comes here pays homage to our beautiful Mt. Rainier which claims to be one of the three most beautiful national parks. Helen, Seattle
Guest guest
If you do make it down to Oregon (anyone), and want to visit the Columbia River Gorge as Sue has suggested, give me a shout. I live here in the Gorge and LOVE being tour/hiking guide. I'll even share my organic produce with ya! Annette [sue - Welcome to closer to my " neck of the woods. Guest guest
Thanks Helen, July sounds like a berry yummy time of the year to be coming to Washington. Would you tell me what Street the U-district Farmers Market is on. I'm THAT excited about my local market too. It has a very large variety of organic produce, lots of which is locally grown. So wonderful to buy a lettuce (etc) that has just been picked that morning and still has the dew on it. Toni Searching for the best free email? Guest guest
Hey Annette, That sounds great - thanks for the offer. Lucky I've been writing EVERYTHING down that people have been offering and telling me about. I'm sooo excited now about being in and around Seattle - you've ALL been so helpful and kind. Hope I meet everyone. Toni Searching for the best free email? Guest guest
Toni, You have probably already found out that the U-district farmers' market is at Broolyn Ave. and 50th NE St. It is about five blocks from I-5 (Interstate freeway), on the east side of I-5. When you get to the intersection, you'll see lots of people carrying shopping bags or baskets, you can't miss it. Chaco Canyon is on the southwest corner of the intersection, in the basement under Cedar's Restaurant. Guest guest
That's great to know Helen, Because I definitely DO want organic. It seems that when you get onto raw food, there's no going back and then the next step is Organic and there's REALLY no going back from that. I've got a feeling, though, that the size of Seattle is going to be awesome for me. I said I come from Sydney (big city) because I'm flying out from there but really I come from a country town and my organic market is tiny. Toni Searching for the best free email? Guest guest
Nick, I can see that you miss Seattle. We miss you too. Hope you'll visit us sometime. How nice we can all get connected via email. I'm amazed that it seems people all over are checking on RawSeattle. One of my friends in Houston told me she had checked on RawSeattle looking for healthy diet information.
