Guest guest
Airline meals are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, particularly among U.S. carriers. I typically fly on about a dozen flights each year, most back & forth to east coast, & I haven't seen an airplane meal served on one of my flights since 2002. (Since 2002, I've flown on US Airways, American, Alaska, & Southwest.) The only " meals " I've seen were ham sandwiches for sale on Alaska. American typically has beverage service & pretzels. (But even when airlines served food, I still brought my own. Learned that the hard way when my United flight got cancelled & I was put on another flight that did not have any veg. meals aboard.) BTW, there's now a trend of cutting out even the snacks: From USA Today 5/27/05 Northwest Airlines pulls pretzels from domestic flights MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Northwest Airlines passengers who said goodbye to free meals in February at least got free pretzels to console them. Now the airline is taking the pretzels away, too. Beginning June 9, coach passengers who want anything other than soda will have to pay for it. They can get a 3-ounce bag of trail mix for $1. Northwest spokesman Kurt Ebenhoch said the airline has no immediate plans to stop offering soda for free. Also, I read that Northwest has cut out their magazines, & charges $2.00 for curbside check in at SeaTac. And other airlines are following. *** I wouldn't be surprised if airlines soon install pay toilets.
