Hi Suzanne,

Most of the asian markets up in vancouver should carry mangosteen (as well

as durian, of course!). i've also bought fresh mangosteen, passionfruit and

starfruit at Granville market in vancouver. Granville market is the touristy

outdoor market, is beautiful, though only has one organic stand! Organic

produce in vancouver (we've shopped at Choices, Capers, etc) is very

expensive and not the freshest. We are truly blessed with good organics here

in Seattle.

To Helen in Everett,

I'm willing to bet most of your co-workers will not like the durian you

bring in (you may get to eat it all yourself!). I was very opposed to trying

it... finally tried it and thought it was " surprisingly not disgusting

considering the smell " and then had it in a pie and found it suddenly

irresistable. it is definitely an acquired taste. When i was at the Tree one

of my apprenticemate's boyfriends traveled from miami with a durian for her,

he got lots of dirty looks on the plane. That is true love.

Christy
