I'm also wondering whose standards were used to decide the glue was safe to eat.

The US government considers pretty high levels of toxins " safe " .

I'm now allergic to some of the common chemicals used in adhesives and the

plasticizers in products " safe " to use with foods and " safe " to use in body care

products by US government standards. I wouldn't be allergic to them now if they

truly had no negative health impact.

Jeff,

The animal product based glues I know about are only sticky when hot or before

they dry out. When dry at room temperature, they aren't sticky anymore. Those

fruit stickers seem to be sticky at room temperature.

From our perspective, the worst case is the glue has an animal product base and

a little bit of petroleum based plasticizer to keep it sticky at room

temperature.

To be safe with confidence, I cut the part of the fruit with the sticker off,

and throw it in the garbage, not the compost.

May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter,

Roger
