The article did seem absurdly restrained, but the wrapup paragraph

was good....

 

" However, " he concludes, " if someone wishes to improve their health

and reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer, I would

definitely suggest that they get away from the refined and processed

foods that Americans usually eat and try to eat a wide variety of

nutrient-dense foods, such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains,

legumes and fish. "

 

If this recommendation were followed (and it basically reflects the

new food pyramid guidelines) we'd see ourselves in a whole new world.

 

BTW. Here's the link to the actual report. There's a charge for

it, one of my carpool partners is doing a study of diets so I've

asked if she can get it for me. I'll let you know what I find out.

I'm interested in finding out some other statistics about the study

participants like rest heart rate, blood pressure, general health

measures.

 

This author earlier presented a study on CR(calorie restrictive)

diets with nutrient-dense foods and showed benefits.
