Guest guest
You would think we own shares of Central Market or something, but no, we're just lowly shoppers. :-) Our old friend Christian Blackburn (living in Sacramento, CA for a few years now), creator of RawSeattle.org, told me that Central Market has " the biggest produce section West of the Mississippi. " I asked a produce person there if that were true, and he affirmed. I'm not sure if it's still true now, after the biggest Whole Foods location in the US just opened, also in our neck o' the woods in Bellevue (I have yet to visit that place). Central Market's produce section is pretty expansive though, both their Shoreline and Mill Creek locations. The " sister " Town and Country stores in Ballard and Greenwood (very close by to where I live) don't have produce area as extensive as Shoreline and Mill Creek, but they still give the same good price deals. In fact, one of the main aspects we raw foodists appreciate about these stores is the great savings we get when buying produce by the case: only a 25% mark-up above wholesale, I believe. It used to be only a $2 mark-up per case, but it's still a really good deal. I got three cases of those coconuts this weekend, and I agree, they're pretty tasty. I wonder if the growing conditions/practices were better or what?...
Guest guest
I wasn't impressed with the Bellevue Whole Foods' produce selection. It's no better than the Roosevelt store. What is bigger is the prepared foods section (a.k.a. Deli). Seems to go on for miles and miles. Is it me or have both (Roosevelt and Bellevue) been carrying fewer and fewer organic options lately? I love Central Market and PCC. They're my stores of choice -Heather/starrrie ericscottfarris <EricScottFarris wrote: You would think we own shares of Central Market or something, but no, we're just lowly shoppers. :-) Our old friend Christian Blackburn (living in Sacramento, CA for a few years now), creator of RawSeattle.org, told me that Central Market has " the biggest produce section West of the Mississippi.
