Hi Lianna,

Feel free to create your own recipes. One of the reasons for nuts in the diet is

to get enough protein. Different people need different ratios of protein and

carbohydrates in their diet.

Besides seeds, other sources of raw protein are avocados and algae like

spirulina. Besides all the other advantages of spirulina, its high in protein

and low in fat, and so can help raise your protein intake without a significant

increase in fat.

If you don't need much protein, dried apricots and figs have even more protein

than dates and are about 3% protein by weight. This isn't enough protein for

most people, it adds up if you eat a lot of dried fruit.

May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter,

Roger

Here is my input on the protein myth. The Hallelujah Diet, www.hacres.com

teaches that protein is found in all green leafy vegetables and, in fact, in all

living plants. Protein in spinach is 49%, broccoli is 45%, etc..They also limit

nuts for people with cancer. The diet is 85% raw, 15% cooked vegan. Although you

can go 100% raw and still follow their program. George Malkmus the founder of

hacres cured himself from a baseball sized tumor in the colon by eating 100%

raw, with lots of carrot and other vegetable juices. Check it out.
