Guest guest
Hi All, In any government there are always the politicians and also the conscientious diligent workers working hard to serve the population. While the politicians have been working hard to support the cattle industry, others have been shaking up the official USDA food pyramid. Every 5 years the nutrient recommendations are updated, and the new ones came out last month. I was almost shocked at how far they have come along. The word " meat " is mentioned 3 times, but all 3 are health warnings about meat, and there isn't any recommendation to eat meat, fish, or poultry. Immediately under " Food Groups to Encourage " the summary points are: Eat lots of fruit and vegetables Eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables Eat whole grains Drink low fat milk Its almost like there was a quiet revolution and the lacto-vegetarians got hold of the official nutrition definition process! Take a look at this and share it with anybody who has doubts about the importance of fruit and vegetables.
