Guest guest
Mark, Yes, According p. 34, I see that legumes are left out of the phase one diet. After spending much time hearing Dr Cousen's lectures and witnessing the phase one diet in action while fasting at the Tree of Life this past September, I would say that legumes are rarely encouraged (if ever) on this diet. Because they are low glycemic, in small quantities, if sprouted properly, they are probably ok. However, lots of green veggies are deemed the best way to go while on phase one. Some nuts and seeds are encouraged in small quantities. In my opinion, this diet makes the most sense in terms of proper food combining because everything in the phase one category (in my experience) makes for harmonious digestion. In phase 1.5, the only fruits permitted are berries and this seems a nice gradual re-introduction of fruit once the blood sugar is re-stabilized. After 3-6 months on this diet the dietary choices and sweet cravings transform. Many folks I have spoken with while on the diet and when they transition back to phase 2 or 3 remark at how great they feel and how little they think about food. These folks show more creative zest for life! I have heard that legumes are mostly toxic and that Marks reaction is a common one. I am interested in hearing more on legumes and would like to hear the responses to Marks question as well as my own insights from any folks out there...
