Guest guest
>Who ...cares what it has to do with raw food? Actually this list was set up for topics related to raw vegan foods. Many people who have joined this list may be interested in only that topic. We should honor that. As moderators, we have been tolerant of off topic posts and, at times, participate in them. We have not had many complaints about such posts, so have not addressed them recently. The political seasons seem to generate extra off-topic posts, as does the " holiday " season. We should all remain cognizant that many people prefer no off-topic posts. If there are off-topic posts that you feel are appropriate for our group and you feel really really compelled to share it with us, please put " OT - " in the subject line, followed by an accurate description of the subject. People can then avoid it or read it as they wish. Remember, even some raw food related posts may be inappropriate for our list. For example, the extensive raw menu from a restaurant in a city thousands of mile away from Seattle, is not appropriate (that one has actually happened!) I have actually initiated health and diet related emails, not specifically about raw foods, but which may remind us why we may be on a raw vegan diet. Please also remember we have many new-comers to the list, as well as those who have not committed to 100% raw foods. Some may include a little raw into their Standard American Diets (SAD.) Some may be 100% raw. Some 100% vegan. We are all on our own paths trying to figure out what is ideal for us. This list is an opportunity for us to learn from each other about the raw food diet. With that in mind, let's keep this a positive place for people to share their thoughts and ask their questions. Let's not put people down for their thoughts and questions. Let's not condescend others. We have had some posts that actually attacked or questioned individual's character. That is not welcome here! That does not encourage a positive environment for sharing. There are many members of this list who may have never posted. Everyone should feel welcome to participate. Similarly, everyone should feel free to visit our area potlucks. It has been mentioned that some don't feel they would fit in, as they are " not all raw " , etc. There is no requirement for how much someone eats raw to attend a raw food potluck. Anyone can join in the fun and great food, as long as the food they bring is raw and vegan. Raw whole fruits or salads (dressing separate) are great for first timers. Hopefully, you'll get new inspiration for the next time! As long as we all have ingredient lists next to our food, then people can choose what they wish to eat. Our website usually has instructions on " what to bring " to the various potlucks (http://www.rawseattle.org.) We have two more potlucks, with a possible third one brewing (not REALLY brewing, this is a RAW list after all,) so I hope to see you there. Take care, Jeff
