Guest guest
Do you know if oat flakes and wheat germs are raw foods? They are advertised as raw, but I recently learned that this doesn't mean that the products are raw. For example, raw cashews and raw carob are not raw, they are heated to an unacceptable temperature level. Is this the case for oat flakes and wheat germ? Guest guest
Bridget, I understand that rolled oats have been steamed, so are not raw. I would be suspiscious of the bran but don't know. I've heard the store-bought raw carob powder has been heated in the process of powdering it, but can't confirm it. " Truly raw " carob powders are available, such as the order I just received. The flavor is a little different and it is more granual than the powder. Just as some say the store-bought " raw " cashews are not raw, some say the heat is not great enough to denature them. On rare occasions it is possible to sprout them, which suggests they are still raw. At best they may be borderline. To be safe you can order the " truly raw " cashews online, if you wish to eat cashews. Jeff >Do you know if oat flakes and wheat germs are raw foods?
