Guest guest
Sheree, Yes, I have heard of CHIP. I know exactly what you are talking about. I moved from Angwin to the state of Washington in 1983. My step-mother ran a health-care and training center teaching how to live healthfully, and she had the greatest opposition from St. Helena Hospital. I believe that when I lived there they offered meat to the patients if they wanted it. They just don't seem to realize that self-denial in diet is for their own best good. CHIP is a vegan program, but what's very interesting is that the SDA community in the Napa Valley seem to be the most resistant. The majority of the people going to the seminars and classes at the Calistoga SDA church are non- SDA meat-eaters...go figure. There's also talk of starting to sell meat at the College Market in Angwin, which is an Adventist community, and where Pacific Union College is. >
Guest guest
Oh wow, you're from Angwin. Small world....most people have never heard of it. So, did you or your mom know Dr. John McDougall? My family knew him when he was at St. Helena hospital....seems his biggest opposition was the hospital as well...go figure. I keep wondering what Ellen G. White would have thought of what has become of the church...(generally speaking, of course). Sheree Ron Koenig <ron.koenig wrote: Sheree, Yes, I have heard of CHIP.
