Guest guest
I think there are many factors involved with staying healthy, state of mind being key. There are old people who have lived there entire lives smoking, eating rich and fatty foods, drinking, etc who seem to have made it that long simply on their will to live....they have great attitudes. My mom eats an extremely healthy diet, excercises, but it very stressed out and depressed...she has high blood pressure and cholesterol. My 83 year old grandmother has taken extremely good care of her body and state of mind, has been vegetarian for 60+ years, and is in excellent health...she's more active than I am! My grandfather, on the other hand, ate the same healthy food, but sat in his chair and worried the last 25 years of his life...he was one about 10 different medications. Your mind is the most powerful, I believe. Believing is key. Ps. My mom was a heart patient at Overlake hospital years ago and was served bacon and fried eggs (probably fried in bacon grease)!! They brought him turkey breast with gravy and mashed potatoes! They actually had to search and found a boca burger for him. Seems the menu in a cardiac ward should at least be low fat! I guess healthier foods won't keep the patients coming back. Of course the doctors are probably planning what kind of surgery and medications they can offer, but never mind nutritional advice or therapy. Jeff >Excellent point.
