Guest guest Posted October 1, 2004 Report Share Posted October 1, 2004 Info: This is going to be a hands-on workshop for adults and or children on how to make sweet alternatives to the usual Halloween treats. These will include low-glycemic desserts and candies such as 'caramel' covered apples, peanut butter balls, pumpkin cookies and more. Those who are interested will create their own recipes and we will have a taste testing of each others creations. The class will be from 1-4 PM. Details: All ingredients will be in their raw and organic state and from the best sources available. The cost of this three hour workshop will include the cost of materials and the time involved. To prepare, bring an apron, your favorite mixing bowl and an open mind. The cost will be between $20-30 per adult and $15 for each child over 5 years of age. Toddlers are welcome to come for a $5 snack fee as long as they are supervised by an adult. Art projects, books and toys will be available for children as well. Information on how and where to purchase the materials for candy- making will be provided at the time of the class. Guests are asked to bring something raw and organic to share for the meal or a $5- contribution. Price and exact location will be posted on the raw seattle website by mid-October. Feel free to dress your kids and yourselves up for the event! Halloween costumes are encouraged. We will provide prizes for the most creative costumes! What to bring: For the potluck afterwards from 5-9 PM, please bring " whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic plantlife " . Any items that are dehydrated, contain honey, salt(s), spice(s), oil(s), and/or vinegar should be labeled accordingly. Should an item contain nuts and/or seeds please label the variety and whether or not they were soaked. If you don't know what to bring, but are still interested in coming, just bring a bowl of fruit or greens. Organic items are always preferred. Listing your recipe and or where you acquired your whole food item is always appreciated. Please bring your own plates and silverware. Feel free to bring any food-prep books, recipes, dietary literature, and any other information that would be of interest to our group.
