Guest guest
Three months ago I threw everything out of my kitchen here at the cabin...that had to do with gluten or partially hydrogenated oil. I was already into health for years but had never gone raw. I wasn't ready to go raw then (guess I didn't really understand what it was all about), although I wanted to study about it. I just made the leap after Thanksgiving to raw and today I finally cleared out my remaining bags of spelt flour and blue corn flour. I guess I can sprout the seeds, nuts and wild rices I have left. So I cleaned, organized and put things in jars and vacuum sealed jars of seeds, nuts, dried fruit that I may not get to right away. Oh! Joy...my new raw kitchen feels just as light and airy as I'm beginning to feel. My DH says don't lose any more weight, so I guess I better keep plenty of avos on hand and learn to use my new Excaliber that is coming...for making raw crackers and loaves and burgers, etc.(will have to use it the week a month I'm in the city, as I use the generator to get on line here). Drat, DH is still a meat, carb and egg kinda guy. I have to do some cooking for him but only what he asks me to. I keep as little SAD food on hand as possible and sneak my raw recipes in on him all I can get away with. My only problem is that I like to stay prepared and was going to do a bunch of canning. Guess I'll just have to lay up some dehydrated goodies. I hate to ruin the enzymes in good food by cooking it in the canning process. All that jar sterilization etc is so much work, too. I still may make some dewberry jam next summer...but I'll be mostly canning them raw, as they will seal in a water bath canner. Wonder if they lose anything in that canning bath? Anyway I love my new raw kitchen. I got a bunch of those jars that Alissa Cohen shows on her video. Very nice and look good on the counter. After all, I worked so hard to build these pretty cabinets into the cabin and now I think my kitchen is really singing, LOL! Next is going through the recipe drawer and cleaning it out. I stashed all my cookbooks in the libray on a far shelf and left out the juice books I already had. My raw library is coming together slowly and thoughfully. Alissa's book is being read. Cousin's books on order good deal at Amazon.com with free shipping and I'm looking into about 4-5 other books. Yes, Bryan yours is on the list along with Juliano's and Rio's. Diana of Dewberry Hill excited about light, airy and easy food prep The all-new My – Get yours free!
Guest guest
Way to go Diana of Dewberry. Your new raw kitchen sounds awesome! I plan to do something similar with my clothes closet when I finish melting my excess pounds away. I know you have said before, but I was not on these boards yet, so where is Dewberry Hill. sounds magical.
