Terry -- raw food vs. job stress :)

Terry,

I also have a very high stress job, and that has actually been the

reason going " all raw " has been difficult thus far. At the end of

the day, I'm so exhausted that a piece of fruit or a vegetable sound

inadequate and whipping up a gourmet raw dish sounds impossible. I

read somewhere (can't remember where -- might have been HERE :) that

preparation is a big part of the success... having many foods prepared

ahead so that when that happens (the exhaustion) there is something

readily available. I haven't yet had the time to devote a Sunday

completely to raw meal preparation for the coming week.

I'm just wondering how you prepare your meals, or what you are eating

(whole fruits and veggies? prepared raw dishes? from recipes? made

up?). And what you do at lunch time. Besides the health benefits, I

would love to feel more " even keeled " on the job. Most of the time I

just feel drained.

Of course, right now, with all the cold dreary weather, hot foods

sound soooooo good. What does everyone do about THOSE cravings? (Or

am I the only one that has them? -- I'm hoping not!) :)

Re: [Raw Food] Digest Number 990 - changes since

going raw

I've experienced some of the things you've mentioned Valeri,

only

being on raw food for 5 months now. I feel more even keeled

temperament wise a bit. I have a very high stress job, and

before I

would be sooooo stressed out, snappish, and really go over the

edge

a lot. I haven't been able to reduce the actual stress, but

since

going raw, I seem to be able to cope with it better. It is

very

difficult to explain why ..

I have lost 30 pounds since August 1st ... am back to the

weight I

was in high school (and I'm now 55 so that's going back

some!). I

have less pain in my joints, even with less formalized

exercise. I

get heaps of 'work' exercise on my job.

I like this journey. Right now I'm trying to keep in touch

with my

body, eat what I " crave " , and see where it all goes.

cheers

terry

began

to see permanent, more emphatic changes at all levels. With

the

vegetarian and cooked vegan, there were some initial

improvements,

but they did not last, so I guess this is what seems to really

work

for me. I should say that I am now 49 years of age, just a few

months away from the magic 50! Anyway, here's a list of

changes

since June:

through

the night without machine.

stairs or a

slight hill, etc.), now pretty much gone; I can walk every day

in

our hilly area for 30 to 60 minutes with no discomfort.

more intensely, the negative doesn't throw me off course the

way it

used to. I'm better able to cope with things that come at me.

sense;

it's hard to describe. But I feel like my world is expanding

at many

levels, and I think that is what feeds my optimism.

then, is

that I actually wake up laughing some mornings. That is

totally new

for me; it sort of surprised my husband who has been used to

the me

that normally drags out of bed in the morning wishing for a

couple

more hours of sleep. I don't know what makes me laugh, but I'm

not

complaining!

story,

and it's interesting to see the kinds of changes folks find

happening in their lives as they go on. Any other stories out

there?
