Guest guest
Hi, everyone. My name is Erin, and I am new to this group and new to raw foods-I have been doing raw foods for about one week (with the exception of a piece of pie at Thanksgiving), about 70 % raw, the rest vegan (boiling water for tea, I have been using cooked rice while trying to sprout it and not being patient enough, LOL.) I have been sleeping so much! I am so tired! Normally I have boundless energy- previous to trying raw, I was about 80 % vegetarian, with some cheese, yogurt, fish, and occasionally organic/free range poultry. Is this an effect of detox or the effect of the first snow here in Minnesota? (LOL). Just wondering if people have had similar experiences, and for how long? I am not used to feeling so fatigued, sleeping ten hours a night plus needing naps... Also: what is the best way to get the coconut meat from the coconut? Yesterday I just stuck my paring knife between the shell and the cocunut, but then I still had to peel off a layer of coconut shell and it only came in small chunks. Are my coconuts ripe enough? What are your successful techniques? thanks! Guest guest
About the coconut, since I just hacked one up a few minutes ago...I saw this on Alissa Cohen's video. She takes the back edge of a large knife (not the tip but the edge closest to your hand) and hacks a circle around the top. Once you pop the top open, pour out the water. Then I hack down both sides of the coconut and pry it open with my hands. I take a spoon and scrape/peel out the meat. This is for young coconuts (the white ones).
