Guest guest
I will be buying seeds for sprouting at the health food store. If the package reads 'organic' does this mean that they are not iradiated (sp?) or should I always ask? I went to an organic store and on some of the packages it said, not iradiated. Guest guest
I can't emagine iradiated seeds sprouting. To me that would be like putting them in a microwave then trying to sprout them. But who knows. Organic food growers are usually certified by a government agency. It means that no pesticide or herbicide has been intoduced into the growing field or on the plant for a certain amount of time, (probably other things at present time too). It used to be 5 years. I would prefer something from California myself since they were formost in organic certification long, long ago and there are very few bugs and weeds to worry about. I saw more spraying over a city in CA with malathyon for fruit flys than I ever saw in an orchard or field in the countryside. My own orchard was never sprayed with anything and my biggest problem were the birds and ground squirls. I now live in Missouri where there are nothing but insects, molds and weeds and organic certification is extreme hard for a small garden much less a farm.
