Guest guest
There are some good ones in the $60-70 range. My favorite is the Krups, which I link to from my site. It doesn't use salt and ice. It's easy and economical. You just pre-freeze it and take it out when you want to make a batch. Cuisinart makes a similar one. These units typically make a quart, which is the batch size for my recipes. There are cheaper models that usually use salt and ice. Most have motorized tops. You can also find some with hand cranks. For big batches (1 gallon) White Mountain makes a great ice & salt type ice creama maker. They are pretty sturdy and durable. One benefit of the salt and ice type is that you can make multiple batches. The pre-freeze type are good for one batch, then you have to clean it and re-freeze it. You can get two batches out per day if you do it right (one morning and one evening.) So, it depends on what you want to do with it. Ebay and especially garage sales are a great way to get bargain ice cream makers, sometimes unused! Jeff >Also, is there any particular kind of ice-ream machine that you >recommend.
