Guest guest
A NOTE ON FISH Recently there have been several recommendations to eat " protein " (meaning animal flesh) and to eat fish and it has even been called it a " transition food " like it would be a good food to transition into the raw food lifestyle. Wrong! If someone wants to eat fish for whatever reason, that is fine. However, this is not the place, as a vegan raw food list, to advocate eating fish. Personally I believe (as the Bible states it) that " all things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. " First of all, there is extensive documentation about how the fish on this planet is toxic because of polluted waters. Second of all, protein from plants is a superior source of protein and is also more than adequate to supply our daily needs even for a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding. This is contrary to what is commonly understood. FOR THE RECORD There have also been many recommendations lately for eating cultured vegetables and also calling them " transition foods. " Neither animal protein or cultured vegetables are health promoting and they are NOT good choices as " transition foods " into eating all raw or even high raw. For transitional diets, take a look at Eat to Live by Fuhrman, God's Way by George Malkmus, Fit For Life by Diamond, Toxicless Diet by Paul Bragg, McDougall books or anything on Natural Hygiene. PROTEIN FROM PLANTS Our raw, live vegan food provides excellent, easily absorped protein that is more than adequate, even for the athlete or the pregnant or breastfeeding mother. It is easy to digest, contains live enzymes, is alkaline forming, and also has the kind of fats and carbs that our bodies are starving for. Dark green leafys are about 50% protein, nuts and seeds, wheat grass juice, sprouted grains and bean sprouts are also high in protein. Look at the elephant or the cow that eats all raw live vegan! They birth huge offspring and they are not deficient in protein! There are several myths about protein that we have been bombarded with. There is no scientific evidence, for example, that athletes or body builders need more protein. It has been proved a myth that " complementary " proteins are necessary. Animal protein is NOT a " complete " protein. Animal protein is an inferior source of protein; it has zero fiber, is difficult to digest, is acid forming, has no live enzymes, is mucous forming and it is loaded with harmful unhealthy fats. A lack of protein is not a concern, as we have been brainwashed by the ads of the meat, egg and dairy associations to believe. Too much protein, however, is toxic and extremely harmful to our health. ~Jenny Silliman of NW WA (I " transitioned " with the Hallelujah Diet in January 2000 and started all raw vegan July 10, 2003. In ten months I have LOST 66 excess pounds and I have GAINED radiant health!)
