What you say is correct. Some fruits are acidic but only very mildly so. No one can be on a 100% alkaline diet for an extended period of time without the risk of developing an alkaline disease...even as many today have acid diseases. The issue is one of balance. It would seem that the most balanced diet (for those who are not dying of a terminal illness) is one that is 20% acid and 80% alkaline. > > You said > > The second is for someone who needs to maintain a > very > alkaline diet because of some kind of poisoning. The poisoning can be literal (as I have been poisoned by formaldehyde) or it can be more general...poisoned by a very acidic diet (such as cancer). > > Can you site info that says that fruit is alkalizing > to the body. The way it is determined if a food is acidic or alkaline is by an analysis of the ash of the fruit after it is burned. Most fruit is alkaline IN THE BODY. There are only a few exceptions. Prunes are one such exception. However, even prunes are only not very acidic. > Which fruits do you recommend? Candida is a yeast infection. Yeast thrives on sugar in the absence of oxygen. Generally, the sweet fruits are avoided until the candida is no longer a problem. keep in mind that, if you have candida, your body needs cleansing and healing. Fiber cleanses (although not as rigorously as fruit) and herbs heal. Therefore, your diet should be high in fiber and herbs (leaves, stems, and flowers of plants). However, if you use the botannical definition of fruit, there are still many choices. Any part of the plant that contains the seeds of life is a fruit. Peppers, tomatoes, squashes, etc are also fruit. They are not very sweet and so do not feed the fungus. > > Kathy > > > > > > > > > ===== Mary, Luvie, Ranger, & the flying brigade A smile is a silent 'hello'. owner of 'The Fully Trained Working Dog' 'Avian Health: Holistic Approach' 'Yoga for Therapy'.
