Guest guest
I agree to an extent I hear many people saying how disgusting meat is, then in their recipes they have soy-burgers, nut-meat-loaf, etc but I do think these items have a value for people coming away from high meat diets On Tue, Apr 27, 2004 at 09:22:57PM -0000, Derrick wrote: > I see a lot of people searching for recipes that taste similar to > cooked foods. Guest guest
Since January 2004 - though a great success is only 3 months as a raw foodist. Most people who fall off the wagon do so within the first six months. Is there anyone who has lived this lifestyle for a few years and continues to prepare raw foods with cooked flavors without cravings? I was reading 12 steps to raw foods and I agree with the author that this is a sign that one is still addicted to cooked foods and it is only a matter of time before returning to old habits. Guest guest
Yes it helped me also, but after the first 30 days or so I think it only helps to keep the body addicted on an unconscious level. --- In rawfood , johnd <john@j...> wrote: > I agree to an extent > > I hear many people saying how disgusting meat is, then in their recipes they > have soy-burgers, nut-meat-loaf, etc > > but I do think these items have a value for people coming away from > high meat diets > > > On Tue, Apr 27, 2004 at 09:22:57PM -0000, Derrick wrote: > > I see a lot of people searching for recipes that taste similar to > > cooked foods. Guest guest
Hello, My husband & I were 100% raw for 2 years before falling off the wagon. I talked to Victoria Boutenko about this and she said that many 100% raw fooders fall off at the 2-3 year period. We did a lot of food preparing the first 6 months and then all of a sudden it just didn't taste good any more and we just kinda evolved into eating mono meals. It was very satisfying and very easy and worked for us for the next year and a half. I don't think becoming 100% raw would have been as easy for us had we not had our mock " cooked food " flavors. But everyone is different and this is what worked for us then. Guest guest
This thread impinges upon the weaknesses of the raw diet as practiced. How different is the food that we eat from the food that the structure and dynamics of our digestive systems were refined over the millions of years to digest? How can we compensate for all the hybrids we are forced into consuming? Most of the species that were our predecessors' diet have probably been wiped out. It is mind boggling stuff but I am convinced that getting it right is the single most important thing that this generation can sort out. Getting it right for myself is highly liberating and only partially achieved. Guest guest
My take on that is..the things that meat does to your body is disgusting..the fact that it was a living, ultimately suffering being is disgusting to me. *But* I remember the taste of meat from a lonnnnngg time ago (!) and the taste was good to me, not disgusting. For example ..fajitas rocked! and chicken breasts with hotsauce was really good to me too. However, since I am not willing to pleasure myself at another being's expense then it is cool if I can find things that sort of taste like it. Unfortunately, thats why my family (before raw foods) indulged in way too much soy. Now I know that soy is just as processed, just as unhealthy as white bread. My kids still eat it though. I'm working on it. But anyway..all that to say I love raw foods that taste like cooked, though I am happiest and euphoric and shining on salads and apples. rambling today~ Angela johnd <john wrote: I agree to an extent I hear many people saying how disgusting meat is, then in their recipes they have soy-burgers, nut-meat-loaf, etc but I do think these items have a value for people coming away from high meat diets On Tue, Apr 27, 2004 at 09:22:57PM -0000, Derrick wrote: > I see a lot of people searching for recipes that taste similar to > cooked foods. Guest guest
I applaud your efforts and determination and perseverance; and all those others on this list who stick with it, even if they use or used recipes and faux-cooked raw dishes. I don't use these devices myself, but I recognize their value for those that need them. Way to go raw fooders. You choose optimal health. regards, tev Angela LaMonte <amadera656 wrote: My take on that is..the things that meat does to your body is disgusting..the fact that it was a living, ultimately suffering being is disgusting to me. *But* I remember the taste of meat from a lonnnnngg time ago (!) and the taste was good to me, not disgusting.
