Someone asked a while back if there were any good recipes in this book--The

Rainbow Green Live-Food by Gabriel Cousens.

In our raw-food support group, a few of us formed a sub-support group as an

experiment. We thought that perhaps the reason we didn't stay on the diet

well was because it took too much time to plan and prepare the meals, so 4

couples are taking turns mon-thurs nites and preparing a meal for the

group. As many are very busy, the meal is served between 5:30 and 6:30 in

the home of the person preparing it and the rest can either come and eat it

or bring containers and take theirs with them. We also decided to use the

Rainbow Green book as our main resource for recipes. Last nite was the

first nite of our experiment and was at my house. I had already tried the

wilted kale salad and knew that it was good, but I need less salt. In

addition to preparing that, I also had crackers from the book and pumpkin

seed pate' and the tomato pine-nut soup. I had not tried those recipes

before and to be honest, it was scary to have company for dinner while

experimenting with recipes, BUT, the food was outstanding. I have never

tasted raw soup as good as the tomato pine-nut soup and honestly, the

pumpkin seed pate' was great.

I'm wondering if perhaps our tastes change the longer we are raw and for

those who didn't like this book, perhaps down the road, you will.

kind regards,

Nina

I am willing to try those two recipes you reccomended .I didnt

care for the sunburgers as I felt it had too much sage I believe if

I remember correctly . Neither did I care for the taste of the

Caesar dressing recipe . The Tempura never set up for me in

the dehydrator . But , if you or others try these , I would love to

hear if you liked them because taste is such an individual thing.

On the other hand , one very easy recipe we really liked alot

with the right blend of spices and flavors to our taste was the

Basil Pesto , very flavorful . Would be great as a dressing on just

about anything , but we do like garlic in this house . Taste always

dictates . Keep sharing .

I just bought the book as I am trying to go raw (the only cooked

food I eat is rice, steamed asparagus and miso which I am assuming

is considered a cooked soup vs. raw). I may not go 100% raw, but I

am definitely interested in 80% raw. I am currently reading

COnsious Eating for a course at my school and that is how I became

interested in raw food. I was not impressed with the raw food

recipes of the one family (the teens wrote their own cookbook as

well) because I felt it was filled with too many fruits for me where

I prefer a balance.
