Here are some dictionary definitions: To make less severe or intense; mitigate; relieve the symptoms of a disease or disorder; cover with a mantle or cloak; cover up; hide; disguise; extenuate; conceal; ease withhout curing; as, to palliate a disease; provide physical relief, as from pain.
