Guest guest
The idea of " deficiency " There is a rather bizarre idea that we are all indoctrinated with in the raw vegan realm: that bodily symptoms equal deficiency. It is unquestioned by most raw vegans, and any symptom sends them running to find out what they supposedly need that they are not consuming or doing. But if we stop and look at this idea of symptoms equaling deficiency, we can question it. What is the connection? How do get a symptom equating to a deficiency? It is an erroneous assumption and conclusion, based upon the observation that we can magically make symptoms go away by ingesting a certain substance, or doing a certain practice. Since we are taught to consider symptoms as undesirable, and to be palliated, and since we can manipulate away symptoms via substances and practices, we are led to believe that we have a deficiency of that substance or practice. We have been taught all our lives, to palliate symptoms. If we consume aspirin, our headache goes away. Does that mean we have a deficiency of aspirin? Some people think so, and take an aspirin every day. The consuming of " supplements " , just as the consuming of animal products, and even vegan foods that don't necessarily appeal to us, all for the purpose of palliating symptoms, is no less ludicrous. If we have a real deficiency, the body will very strongly lead us, take us, to the food that will supply the nutrient to fix our deficiency. Presumably, all the millions of years that humans have existed, there have not been supplement salesmen at every corner ready to supply each nutrient, but instead humans, as well as all other creatures, have been led by their bodies to exactly what they need. In fact, it has been noted that the colors of foods alone are specifically tailored with that in mind—our bodies know what they need and what color and texture and scent and feel those foods have, and the plants also know that and supply it, it is all a totally unbelievably fabulous symbiotic system in Nature, that we cannot even begin to comprehend all the intricacies of, let alone improve on. We can also understand therefrom how the body acts very intensely to needing any possibly missing necessary nutrients, if we look at the reactions and behavior of those who are missing all nutrients, so they are presumably deficient all around. Do these people or animals just lay down and feel weak and lapse into a coma? NO! They do the opposite!!! They will do anything to get food, to get their needs met—they will break down bars of prisons, destroy any impediment, even eat their own children, if they are starving, they will do anything to get to food, and they will find supernatural strength to do it. The body knows that an actual deficiency does not get fixed by laying around, but only by going out to find the food that is necessary, so that is what it makes us do. The body at those times does not give us symptoms—that would be contraindicated. The body desperately wants us to find food, so the only manifestation in our bodies it gives us is strong hunger, for that which it needs, which it leads us to. By contrast, the body gives us symptoms when it wants us to rest, when the body is ready to repair and cleanse and heal, and wants us to fully cooperate by laying down, closing our eyes, continually, and usually consuming NO nutriment. This happens because the body is nourished, it has plenty of nutriment, is not deficient. The body, by its wanting us to fast and rest, is looking to fix its ability to absorb those nutrients, if it has not already repaired this, among other miraculous things that the body alone can do when it is at total rest. The body would not give us symptoms such dizziness, fainting, numbness, tremors, fatigue, coma, etc.—things which force us to go to lay down and rest—unless the body wanted total rest, no food, no activity. Obviously, if the body needed nutrition instead, it would not give us these manifestations, as these are the opposite of what we would need in order to nourish ourselves—if we are physically unable to get out of bed, we are unable to get food, let alone find the exact food that will give us any nutrition we may be missing. The idea of " supplements " When people just don't understand how the body works, they make all kinds of incorrect assumptions and try to convince themselves and each other to take pills, potions, powders, etc. instead of eat real food. The body cannot use inorganic substances, ferment, etc. The body must discard them as best it can, as quickly as it can. They are toxic in the body. Plants convert minerals and inorganic substances into organic ones--those are our food. We cannot cut out the plants from the process and expect to be nourished. We are not eaters of inorganic rocks or metals from the Earth, that is not our biological adaptation. Our food comes from plants. Effects from inorganic substances in our bodies are palliative, not nourishing. It's really really simple, but many people will never get it, always looking for something other than food to put into their bodies--it's the conditioning we've all had, that whatever is good for us tastes awful and comes in pills and other unnatural forms, and that food is okay but is only a minor player in the game. Sadly, people simply cannot divest themselves of the programming taking them in the direction of palliatives. Nothing that belongs in the body is in " supplement " form, it is in food form. If food is real food, it is not stuffed into a pill, powder, potion. Food is food, it looks like food, smells like food, tastes like food, appetizing and beautiful in every respect. It's really really simple--just go to the produce section in a store, you're hit with such unbelievable beauty and sensation all around you--it will inspire strong desire. Then go to the aisle with all the pills and potions and powders--if you feel any desire for all those bottles of pills and powders and potions, it's only because of the pictures of the fruits and veggies on the bottle to try to lure people in. But the fruits and veggies are not in the bottles! They are in the produce section, and in the great outdoors, that's where our food is! As for the pills, potions, powders, if health is desired, then run the other way! And the pills and potions are NOT made of organic substances, no matter how they may say they are, and no matter how slickly they are advertised by being called " natural " . The pills and potions are synthesized, in a laboratory. They are not synthesized out of foodstuffs. They may CONTAIN some foodstuffs to make them less unappetizing, to fill out the bottle or the pill, but the " nutrient " they contain, that they are selling, is in synthesized form. The foodstuffs are simply padding, window dressing for marketing purposes. Most minerals sold are inorganic. Most vitamins sold are synthesized out of petroleum by-products. Even the substances that are supposedly from organic sources are not food for us—if they were, we would eat them the way they come in Nature, not swallowing them in pill form, or in processed powders which do not in any way resemble food. These substances are ones we would never eat in Nature, such as algae, yeast or other fermented items, and any of a zillion other substances. It is easy to assume that someone has a deficiency of a certain nutrient. However, nutrients work in concert. There is never a deficiency of one nutrient to the exclusion of other nutrients, Nature simply does not work that way. If someone is starving, they have a deficiency—of food, of real nutrition! They do not have a deficiency of any one element! Or of any 2 or 5 or 100! If we give our bodies real food, they are not deficient. If someone is eating a SAD diet, they have a deficiency of real nutrition. They are not deficient in 2 or 5 or 100 individual substances. They are deficient in real food, which has all the nutrition we need, in the right amounts for our bodies, in the form they need and can use, plus nutrients as yet undiscovered. Eating our natural diet of fruits, leafy greens, nuts, and edible seeds, in whatever variety and proportion our bodies direct us to, is all the nutrition we need. We cannot simply begin to take one or more " nutrients " , even if they were truly nourishing, which they are not—pills, potions, powders, substances, are not nutrients—and expect health. The solution is simple, elegant: Eat food only, don't take anything. We get all our nutrients from eating our natural foods. That is how it has always been, humans cannot improve upon it, all efforts to do so can only dig us further into the hole. How do they do that? Ironically, it is by the very substances that people take to palliate their symptoms, that they are creating more problems for their bodies, depleting the nutrients that the body is getting from our natural foods. Dr. John McDougall has said that we are not a culture of deficiency, we are a culture of excess. It is not deficiency that will do us in, it is the excess of substances that we ingest that don't belong in our bodies. If we are eating our natural diet, we are not deficient. Though we may still be not absorbing nutrients optimally. The symptoms are not from not absorbing nutrients--our absorption on the raw vegan diet is better than it's ever been, and on a raw vegan diet we are getting far more nutrients, in raw, living form, than we ever have before. Yet we didn't have " deficiencies " before, we didn't have symptoms of " deficiency " on our unhealthy diets. We begin to get symptoms when our bodies get cleaner, and our diets more healthy. Symptoms are NOT a manifestation of a deficiency! Symptoms are manifestations of the body healing, cleansing, repairing, so that our bodies can truly absorb as much nutrient as possible from what we eat. It's not just what we eat, it's what we absorb. Palliating with animal products All species have their compatible diets, as do humans. The only foods that are compatible with our species are fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. To believe that there is something more that we need, is to go against our physiology and anatomy, to go against Nature. Going against our natural diet, imposing things that are unnatural for us to eat, on our bodies, can never result in health, only in the opposite. Whatever health one has is despite those impositions, never because of them. Animal products advocates insist that we should eat foods which are incompatible with our bodies, and which we would never eat in Nature, which we could not procure without artificial weapons, and which taste awful, and don't appeal to us, and which people only eat because they are conditioned to and told to by those with agendas to push. To keep going against Nature, against our physiology and anatomy, and insist that that is health, is truly doing a disservice to so many people, sensationalistically frightening and misleading so many gullible people, already brainwashed by a lifetime of indoctrination that we need animal products. The animal products advocates can come up with sensationalistic stories about any number of people who have had symptoms, and palliated them with animal products. They could just as easily have palliated them with any other drugs, " supplements " , " minerals " , algae, vinegar, and just about anything else you can think of, substances and pills and potions of all kinds. There is no magic in animal products. They are not what the body needs or wants. They are toxic to the human body, and present an emergency situation in the body, which the body must deal with, and so it must abandon the symptoms that were part of the cleansing, repair and healing it was doing. The consumption of animal products, just as the consumption of " supplements " , stops the cleansing, repair and healing, and puts the body back into the direction of deterioration. In conclusion Once again, if we heed the body, we cannot have deficiencies, especially in our world of plenty. Of course, it is always best to eat the most natural, organic food possible, grown in the best soil possible. But truly, we need so little nutrient in actuality, that our needs are easily met on our naturally compatible diet of fresh raw fruits, leafy greens/veggies, nuts, and edible seeds. Though we are faced with a lot of food grown on depleted soil these days, humans and animals have had to face even bigger challenges in the millions of years they've existed, and always survived. In fact, it is only from eating our naturally compatible diet that we can be fully nourished. All the people eating the cooked, SAD diets are the ones more in danger of real deficiency—they are starved of real nutrition, that is why they eat so much and become obese, their bodies are looking for nutrition and are not getting it. And the " supplements " and animal products and other substances which are non-foods for our species, are taking them in the opposite direction, putting things into their bodies that are unusable, and harmful.
