Hi Mary Ellen~

You have a lot of excellent questions. I hope I can answer them to your

liking. First, let's discuss maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is USUALLY malt added

to

corn syrup. It starts with grain barley which is sprouted and heated to form

the malt. This malt is also what is used to make beer. I stay away from

products containing barley malt and maltodextrin. Most likely the maltodextrin

was added to preserve the enzymes. AIM does seem to have a good product. It is

too bad they have chosen to use maltodextrin in it. I have an email in to

them about it and I'll let you know when they respond.

I believe 100% Raw is always best. Dr. Malkmus is taking people off the SAD

and transitioning to raw. There are points in his book where he shares that

optimally we should all by 100% raw so I would suggest you stay there. I know

how hard it is for a person to have to cook for their family and stay raw at

the same time. My husband is also on the typical amercian diet. My son eats a

mixture. When he is with me, it is mostly raw but he also tries some of my

husbands food even though mostly he turns up his nose at it. Kids always know

best!

I agree with Shirley on the salt issue however I also think a little celtic

sea salt is fine. I eat salt vary sparingly. But on occasion I will use it on

something. I also have real salt along with celtic sea salt. Sometimes the

raw foods that I use have a little sea salt in them as well and I am not

concerned with this.

There are many theories out there on water. There is great supporting

theories for both sides and I'm not sure you will ever get to the bottom of the

issue. I use distilled water and I'll tell you why. My body wanted it! This m

ade my final decision. Distilled water at first tasted very bad to me. And

then as I cleansed I wanted more and more of it. Finally I just switched and I

don't like the taste of spring water anymore. I also think if you are in need

of detoxing distilled water is best. One way to tell if it is right for you

is to muscle test for it. Have you ever done this before? Now is a great time

to learn. This will help you determine which supplements are right for you.

A good place to learn more about this is

People with cancer are fine eating nuts and avocados. It is the animal fat,

dairy products, processed fats that they should avoid. I hope I can

communicate why. It is not necessary the fat alone that is causing the problem.

Breast cancer has a lot to do with estrogen metabolism. Of course, countries

with

diets hight in fat have a skyrocketing incidence of breast cancer, compared to

much lower statistics for countries consuming low-fat diets. But of course,

the fat they were looking at is animal fats and dairy fats, junk food fats,

etc. Fat is a major culprit in fixing the amount of estrogen circulating in the

blood, either by affecting the way a woman's body disposes of estrogen or by

regulating the actual quantity of estrogen secreted. women who eat meat with

high levels of animal fat tend to reabsorb circulating estrogen rather than

excrete it. Vegetarian women tend to excrete more estrogen and have

significantly less estrogen circulating in their blood. Fat stores in

overweight women

also enhance estrogen levels. Greenland, Alaska and Japan have few cases of

breast cancer which has to do with the higher consumption of omega-3 fats found

in flaxseed and sea vegetables (and fish but better to get it from other

sources). Studies have shown that mamary tumors in rodents regressed when

omega-3

fats were consumed. Nearly all tumor promoters stimulate the generation of

arachidonic acid. Found in animal products like meat, arachidonic acid is

involved in the promotion of mammary tumors. High intakes of polyunsaturated

fats

(hemp oil, hemp seeds, primrose oil, borage seed oil, fax, flax oil, walnuts)

is linked to a reduced chance of cancer. Olive oil, an omega-9

monounsaturated fat does not have the tumor promoting effects that omega-6 fats

have.

Other omega-9 fats monounsaturated fats are almonds, pistachio, pecan, avocado,

hazelnut, cashew and macadamias. It is crucial that one get a balance of

monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils. The problem is when one over consumes

monounsaturated oils and no polyunsaturated.

There are two pathways in estrogen metabolism~to make a long complicated

story short~one is bad the other is good. These are two different forms of

estrogen in your body. The more abundant the C-2 pathway (good guys) the more

odds

are in your favor. So what leads to the good pathway and what leads to the

bad pathway (C-16)? Aerobic exercise, cruciferous veggies, thinness, green tea

and licorice root lead to the good pathway. High-fat animal products, alcohol

consumption, and pollutants from combustion can direct you down the bad

pathway.

Lignans have high antiestrogenic activity. Good sources for these on the raw

diet include fruits, berries and vegetable fibers. Strict vegetarians have

elevated levels of urinary lignans and of plant estrogens compared to meat

eaters. Lignans will bind weakly to estrogen receptors, tying them up and

physically blocking estrogen's normal activity.

Seeds and nuts are especially cancer-bashing because they contain strong

anti-oxidants in order to maintain the viability of the seed.

I hope that answers the fat question. Great job on getting a dog. I think

that was smart thinking and an excellent way to exercise~I know, I have 3!

I agree with both chlorella and bee pollen. However, I have not researched

it well myself so I don't know which brands are good and what things to look

for. I do know that chloreela is a single-celled edible algae that is high in

chlorophyll, vitamin B12 and nucleic acids (youth factors). It aids in healing

damaged tissues and helps rid the body of heavy metals and other toxins.

Chlorella supports the liver and enhances the immune system.

Bee pollen is rich in lecithin and is 20% protein. It contains all known

essential vitamins, twelve essential minerals and trace elements, bioflavonoids,

enzymes, complex sugars, plant steriods and 10 fatty acids. Bee pollen

increases stamina and quickens recovery time from althletic exertion or physical

labor.

Well~sorry so long but I hope it has helped!

Talk to you soon!

Sandy
