" Abbey, this is my point exactly about juicing the different greens. If you drink the juice from bitter greens, like kale, collards, spinach etc., you are going to have one potent concentrated bitter juice. You must mix it w/other fruits or veggies to make it half way decent tasting to even get it down. Even then it can still cause a bit of an upset stomach or nausea. Your body doesn't " get use to it " it learns to tolerate it. An example is smoking, drinking alcohol or drinking coffee, etc. for the first time. When we first ingest these things our bodies reject them by making us feel sick. But we keep doing it until finally our bodies become desensitized and we finally quit feeling sick. This doesn't mean that all of a sudden it has become good for us or what our bodies need. Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying that kale, collards etc. are not good for us. This was just an example of why you feel sick when you drink some concentrated juices in larger quantities than you would consume just eating the leafy green whole. You can drink the juice of the green lettuces w/out mixing them with anything and they will taste good, sweet and not cause nausea. " the first time I added green juice to one of my smoothies I did it at about 3:1 and I had such a stomach ache after. It just completely cleared out my system... " This is your bodies way of getting rid of something very quickly that does not agree with it. This is not a good way to " clear out your system " . When I drank the bitter green juices, including wheat grass, I would gage, have a terrible stomach ache and feel very nauseated. This is not how one should feel when eating/drinking proper food for the human body. Maybe some people don't feel this way. All I am trying to point out is if it taste bitter why consume it if you don't have to to get good nutrition? Breezi
