The moment of truth has arrived for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The

U.S. Senate is likely to vote as early as Thursday on an amendment to open

America's greatest sanctuary for Arctic animals to oil development and

sprawling industrialization. The following link is a free fax that you can

OR call - 212-224-3121 and ask for your senator's office - all you have to

say is " my name is so and so I am a constituent in _____________ state - I

wish to register my opposition to any drilling in the Arctic Refuge. " Very

quick and simple.

 

Senators have already disapproved a measure to increase gas mileage for

SUV's that would have saved more oil than could ever be brought out of the

Refuge and are now trying to tie the refuge vote into retirement benefits

for steelworkers and oil supplies to Isreal to get other swing senators to

allow the drilling. REMEMBER - it will take 10 years to get oil out and

scientists estimate there is only SIX MONTHS worth of oil there - is that

worth destorying this area????

 

This may be our last, best chance to stop the oil giants from plundering

America's irreplaceable sanctuary for polar bears, white wolves, and 130,000

caribou.
