Guest guest
This discussion is from another list.... but you guys sound environmental so I thought you might enjoy an earful... Shari Interesting comment, Nemo is it? I think similarly with regards to the environment, and state of the earth. In order for our species, and many other species to survive skills that many of us have learned in Hoshin, Ninjitsu, or any other good martial art must be learned and adapted to life. When we are attacked we have to adapt in a fight to survive. Well in our lives we must adapt our living habits to suit our ever-changing world. We CAN NOT rely on fossil fuel, so adapting to renewable resources makes sense. We, not only as a global community but as individual people need to change our buying habits so that we do not support multinational corporations like Coke, Pepsi and Gap that treat workers unjustly, and use resources at an unprecedented rate, ruining the environment. Ryan and I talk a lot about the teachings of many well known martial artists, and are amazed at how they use their adaptability learned from martial arts to succeed in their daily lives. If only more people acted in this way what a wonderful world it would be. What our species needs is to think dynamically. Not to radically change everything, and tell ourselves abstract thoughts like how greed and power should be abolished, because that is a part of us. Instead we need to make well-informed decisions that have the power induce change. As mentioned before in the pervious comment " for true wealth exist in tangible tools and useful information " . People need to be taught how their actions and buying power affect others in third world countries and the environment. Thus they will then use the information as a tool to create beneficial change. I'm going to make a comment about the U.S. and I hope I don't offend anyone... The US especially the Bush leadership has to change in order to sustain life, as we know it in this era time. As November 11th has shown us, MANY countries dislike the U.S., NOT because of envy, but because of the ignorance of the government and business in decisions they make nationally and globally. However Canada isn't much better either, but is a Kyoto member. If the US, as a whole became more adaptable and went OFF fossil fuel and supported developing countries the world would be a far better place. It would change the international trade to be more environmental, and start initiatives to create a healthier place. So I guess my point is I think a lot of people taking Hoshin may find that their eagerness to learn and adaptability may prove very rewarding when we have to fight for land, food, water and more essentials because the sea levels have risen. However if we learn to adapt now we might not have to face such challenges in the future. Have a wonderful day, Shari Hoshinroshiryu, " nemo49 " <trump3@g...> wrote: > To assume mass world change is giving our race to much credit for > intelligence.
