You'll note he doesn't state "there are no other gods", but "you shall worship no other gods" - very interesting difference. I also wonder - if Christians believe in only Yahweh (the god who gave the commandments to Moses), why did El not get written out of the bible? Yahweh was only the god of the Israel people and other countries had their own gods, which were as much alive as was Yahweh.
