We still have all the presents, trees, food etc. - we just celebrate the "original" festival, and ignore the Christianisation of it. Always makes me laugh when Christians tell people not to forget the "true" meaning of Christmas - the true meaning being a celebration of the rebirth of the sun after the shortest day :-) BB Peter Sorry if this a thick question but do any of the pagans on here celebrate Christmas? Guest guest Posted March 4, 2002 Report Share Posted March 4, 2002 What I can say in defence of Christianity, in my understanding, is the biblical teachings from the very beginning have been ignored by the churches, except the seventh day Adventists who do encouraged a veggie diet, they seem to be the only ones that have read and understood the very straight forward statement on the sixth day,Gen:1-29,..The bible is not all male oriented, in proverbs it refers to wisdom as female : A couple of quotes :3-16; Long life is in her right hand ; in her left hand are riches and honour. Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. 8-1; Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights along the way, where the paths meet , she takes her stand;beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries out; "To you O men, I call out ; I raise my voice to all mankind; you who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish gain understanding. 8-23 ; I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began. when there were no oceans, I was given birth, ;unquote; the bible holds such a wealth of writings,I don't know of any other collection of written works which improve upon the works of the bible's over all message, If anyone knows of such works I would be very interested in hearing about them!
