I reckon the queen actually has a false hand which is programmed to wave that way - I'm sure GWB could get hold of one ;-) BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hello, I'm the moderator of and having just read the discussion on this list feel I should make a comment. I do completely agree with what Peter has been saying though and do not wish to prolong the discussion. Unfortunately, so it seems, I have been away over Christmas and so am still catching up on email and as such have not yet seen what has been posted on my list since Thursday 20th. >Whatever - if people disagree with the way this list operates, that's fine - >some people will prefer Vegan UK, some will prefer Vegan Chat - it's not >like we're in competition, we just provide different forums for people to >make up their own minds. I agree wholeheartedly with what Peter has said regarding our lists not being in competition and instead offering different forums to different people, this is precisely the difference between the two lists. They have very different styles which I think compliment each other well because they offer people the style of list which better suits them. I am also happy to promote Vegan Chat for that reason (and it has always been promoted in the guidelines which are regularly posted to the list as well as sent to new rs), so that people who do not like my list will be able to go somewhere more suitable for them. It is also worth noting that there is a core of people on both lists who appreciate the contrasting styles and the different types of discussion that that allows. Had this situation been reversed (however unlikely that may be) and someone asked on my list about any hostility with Vegan Chat I would have responded in the same way that Peter has and emphasized that we are not on competition but provide lists of different styles. As Peter has said if anyone has a problem with then the best thing to do is contact me directly (my address is at the top of this message), I do not think bringing it up here is in anyones best interest although I also do not feel that Rob had any intention of causing trouble and can understand his feeling that it was something to be said here. That said if criticizing one list on another is considered a one sided affair, then criticizing said list on another does seem a tad hypocritical. And on a more specific note... > > its probably cuz there are toooo many yanks on veganchat fer vagan UK's > liking >Unfortunately you could be right - it does happen - and I have no idea why. >I'm pleased that you and our other American friends are here. is set up to offer be specifically UK focused as I had previously found them to be lost, albeit understandably, on US dominated lists. That said Americans, and those of any other nationality, are certainly welcome if they don't mind being somewhere UK centric. I will say that Vegan Chat does have a much better balance across the pond for a multicultural list, if anything it could be said to be too UK centric. Tomorrow I will be able to read through the discussions that have taken place during the last week on and will respond to any comments made there. I do want to apologize to Rob for feeling that he should not be able to discuss my list or be critical of it, although I do agree with Peter that it is not relevant to Vegan Chat and especially to those members here who are not on my list. If you have any specific concerns you wish to discuss with me I will be happy to address them, and will do so when I have had read any comments you have made on . I also want to apologize to Peter for this topic clogging up his list. Michael owner
