Guest guest
ok,so anyway....I respond to this here action alert...the guy writes me back almost immediately with the following: " Please at least express your " concern " by using something other than the form letter everyone else has been sending. " He just struck me as more than a little arrogant here,so naturally,I had to write him back(Fraggle, you knew this was coming, right?) " and is this a form letter reply you're sending to everyone who sends it? Tell you what, said form letter makes all the points I would,so hey,why not. Go fuck yourself. Oh,and stop using live animals in your holiday display. merry christmas " hehe...I could resist. But anyway,I'm encouraging you all to write this jackass, and tell him off for using and abusing reindeer in the display. /and maybe even say some rude things to him, just for kicks. Chris X BACKGROUND (provided by Mary Zoeter): On Saturday, December 1st, I was at the River Hill Shopping Center in Columbia (Maryland). There was an exhibit called Operation Santa Claus there. There is a reindeer ranch out of Redmond, Oregon, that sends reindeer out in groups of 5 to malls across the country. These reindeer were chained together in a small space. When the exhibit closed at 5, they were put into a trailer. I only saw one trailer for the five. So it looks like that is how these magnificent animals spend their time. Either chained together outside, or packed into a trailer. CONTACT: Wayne Christmann Vice President Columbia Village Centers 10400 Little Patuxant Parkway, 210 Columbia, Md. 21044 EMAIL: wchristm (hrdrouse.com) SAMPLE LETTER: wchristm Please do not use live animals for holiday displays Mr. Christmann: I am very concerned after learning that the River Hill Shopping Center in Columbia, Maryland is hosting an exhibit called " Operation Santa Claus. " I understand that five live reindeer were chained together in a small space. When the exhibit is over, the reindeer are herded into a trailer. I do not think that chaining animals together and then loading them into a trailer is an appropriate way to celebrate the holiday season. Recently, a reindeer named Blitzen, who escaped from a holiday display at a nursery in Pennsylvania, was killed by a hunter's bullet. The nursery has received much negative publicity because of this tragic incident. Animals used in these spectacles are often subjected to abuse in order to provide " entertainment " to patrons. Even under the best of circumstances, captivity can be torture for animals meant to roam free. Confined to tiny spaces and gawked at by crowds, animals in exhibits endure constant stress. For the sake of the animals and the safety of the public, implement a formal policy against the use of animal exhibits and acts at the River Hill Shopping Center and schedule only cruelty-free events. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely,
