Simple Steamed And Broiled Fennel

Recipe By : Healthful Cooking, Mary Carroll, Star Tribune 5/18/00

Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 small fennel bulbs

1 tablespoon olive oil

Serves 2 to 3.

Steaming fennel is the easiest way to prepare the bulb. I like to broil or

grill it once steamed, then use it as garnish on a green salad.

Trim off tops of fennel and remove tough outer leaves. Thickly slice each

bulb, place in steamer and steam for 5 minutes. Drain, place in shallow

baking dish. Brush surface of fennel with olive oil. Broil 4 to 5 inches

from heat source for 1 to 2 minutes, or until lightly browned.
