Crispy Chocolate Bars

3 cups crispy brown-rice cereal

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup flax seed

3/4 cup barley malt syrup

 

Pour the rice cereal into a bowl. Add the cocoa powder. Grind the flaxseed in

an electric coffee grinder 1/3 cup at a time. Pour over the cereal and cocoa.

 

Pour the malt into a heavy bottomed-saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat. Boil

the malt for 1 minute. Pour over the flaxseed mixture. Mix thoroughly.

 

Press into a 9 x 9-inch nonstick or oiled pan. Allow to cool. Cut into 8 bars.

Remove from the pan. Place in a storage container or in plastic sandwich bags.

Refrigerate.
