I made this for Canadian Thanksgiving and it received rave reviews! It is also

great the next day as a sandwich filler - Enjoy!

Garbanzo Loaf

 

Recipe By :

Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:15

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 each onion -- chopped

1/2 each green pepper -- chopped

2 cups garbanzo beans -- mashed

1/2 cup peanut butter -- or almond butter

1 tablespoon oil

1 cup tomato sauce

3 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon sage

4 cloves garlic

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups bread crumbs -- toasted

 

Saute onion and green pepper.

 

Mix all the ingredients together and place into an oiled loaf pan.

 

Bake in a shallow pan of water at 350 for 1 hour

 

Yield:

" 1 loaf "

NOTES : I left out the oil and sauted the onion, garlic and green pepper

in water.

 

I toasted whole wheat bread to make the bread crumbs.

 

I pureed the garbanzo beans in the blender before adding to the

rest of the ingredients.
