Gratin de Pates a la Meurette ( Gratin of Macaroni, Red Wine Sauce

and Cheese )

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 pound elbow macaroni

2 cups Sauce ( Meurette )...see seperate recipe

2 ounces grated parmesan cheese -- ( about 1/2 cup)

2 ounces asigo cheese ( or Gruyere ) -- ( about 1/2

cup)

 

Preheat oven to 450 degrees

 

Cook the pasta in a large pot of slated boiling water until al dente,

about 7-10 minutes. Drain well.

 

Spoon half the pasta into a buttered casserole or baking dish ( about

8 cup capicity ) Add the sauce, toss well and then sprinkle with

half the cheese. Layer the remaining pasta, add the remaining sauce

and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

 

Bake 15-20 minutes until healted through, well melted and the cheese

on top is beginning to brown slightly. Serve sizzing hot.
