Guest guest Posted September 28, 2000 Report Share Posted September 28, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Tempeh Pizza Burgers Recipe By : Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Main Dishes Sandwiches Tofu/Tvp/Soy/Seitan Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 English muffins -- split 1 8 oz package tempeh -- (three grain) 2 tablespoons water OR vegetable broth 1 medium onion -- chopped 1 green pepper -- chopped 2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon basil 1/2 teaspoon marjoram 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 6 oz can tomato paste 1/3 cup water mozzarella cheese OR soy cheese -- (optional) Steam tempeh for 10 minutes and set aside. Heat a large skillet and saute water or broth, onion, and green pepper. Grate tempeh on the coarse side of a grater and add to the onion mixture. Stir in tamari, oregano, basil, marjoram, and red pepper flakes and cook 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste and water and heat through. Place muffin halves on a cookie sheet and place under broiler to toast lightly. Set oven temperature to 375° F. Spread muffins evenly with tempeh mixture. Grated mozzarella cheese or soy cheese can be placed on top, if desired.
