Guest guest Posted August 22, 2000 Report Share Posted August 22, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Oven Fried Tofu Recipe By :Soyfoods Cookery - Louise Hagler Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound firm tofu 6 tablespoons unbleached white or whole wheat flour 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast 2 teaspoons onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon oil Preheat the oven to 400F. Slice the tofu 1/8 " to 1/4 " thick. Mix together the dry ingredients. Dip the tofu in the soy sauce, then dredge in the flour mixture. Arrange on an oiled cookie sheet, and bake 10 minutes until browned on the bottom. Turn and bake about 5 more minutes until browned on the other side. Serves 4 to 6 Oven Fried Chipotle Tofu: Replace the poultry seasoning and black pepper with 1/4 teaspoon ground chipotle. Variation: For a crunchier breading, replace the flour with finely ground cornmeal. Description: " A quick and easy basic, one of our kids favorites. Delicious hot or cold. Serve with steamed grains and vegetables or in a sandwich with all the fixings.
